World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE. For item upgrades that has the upgrade template that ends in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value). The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level. Components Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets in order to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects. Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns. A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with fewer Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level with normal methods. A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment. The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their equipment even if they are unsure how much it can be improved upon a reset. If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a significant risk that the item may become obsolete or even break if it fails. A failed upgrade will cause the destruction of the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that double or even eliminate chance of failure, and some upgrades that provide a bonus when reinserted into an item. Glyphs Glyphs are upgrade elements which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs, the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and replaced again, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install. The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. item upgrading can decide to replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph. Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts. Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats. Utilizing item upgrader will boost all the nodes that are connected to it, and you should try to place your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids, for example should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their critical damage nodes. Leveling The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the power of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as “upping”. Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level. Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses. When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a different item of the same type. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback in that it could make the item more expensive if you do not require it. Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a completely different set of bonuses. This can be useful but it shouldn't be done often as it can waste resources. Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and exits water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). This item can be upgraded many times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is extremely useful in PvP battles, since the best version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its non-upp'd value. Requirements The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their equippable gear—armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the damage base and required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements. Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to return to its original state, which requires the player to pay for more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount. If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure. When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is applied. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item could have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have the lowest cost for each additional upgrade. Premium items have different upgrade requirements in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade will require the use of different ingredients needed to upgrade.
